Country Kitchen Table Ideas

May 3, 2012.

A country kitchen table is usually just going to be a basic white or wood design. This can be a little bit boring.

It’s important to bring pattern into kitchens just because there is so much tile and wood in the space. This can seem a little bit heavy. The country style is all about whimsy and in past decades this focused on a lot of accessories that can really read as clutter. You can really counteract this just by finding new ideas for country kitchen tables.

One thing that you may want to consider is to just paint a simple border around your table. This can really mimic a lot of what we are seeing on handpainted furniture as well. You can still have the natural wood tone underneath it but you can just bring in some beautiful cottage roses. Another option would be just to paint a simple stripe around the edge of the table.

You will want to be careful with your use of stencils because this can seem very cheesy at times. This means you may want to go with more of a free flowing handpainted design style even if it means that you have to go with a more simplistic illustration. This could just be simple ivy work. You could keep it quite elegant just by sticking with a neutral color on top of a white table or you can bring in some metallic paints as well.

You can also go with country colors and finishes on wallpaper borders or fitted wardrobes. A great way to do this would be to go with a red painted table and then sand down the edges so that some of the natural wood shows through. This is going to be one of the bolder design styles but it’s also a way to use red in a way that isn’t going to seem too modern.
