Standard Gear For Media Rooms

May 29, 2011.

Having the right equipment in your media room may mean the difference between enjoying a good movie for the full experience and simply lounging around wishing you had some cooler stuff. In the case of most media rooms, there is usually never enough money to get everything we want, but if you’re willing to settle for some alternatives, you may find that you can significantly reduce some costs while keeping the quality and your audio / video experience very high.

There are a couple of ways you can go with your video. For a true home theater experience, you may want to look into getting a projector with a screen. You’ll usually have more screen real estate with one of these than with a typical television display. If you don’t have it wired, you can usually do this for cheap, especially in today’s economy with a lot of skilled labor not having enough work. Or you can also look into a wireless video transmitter.

After you sort out your video, you should look into making sure you have a quality audio setup. Having a movie without good audio is not that great. If you don’t already have your room wired, you can look into getting some wireless surround sound systems or again look into getting a professional to wire this for you. These types of transactions are considered a bit more “luxury” and may be tapping into a business that isn’t overly busy which may mean a reduced price for you.

There are a few other things to consider for your media room. One of these should be the furniture. There is the ideal or perfect setup, then there is the normal and I usually advise to go for something in the middle. Of course it’s entirely possible to be completely satisfied with your furniture, especially if it’s comfortable. If so, don’t bother doing too much to change it and spend your money on the other things that will make your media room the perfect audio video room.
