Getting organized in the garage is really a multi step process. First you need to plan how you are going to get the garage cleaned out.
Then you need consider what items you want to keep, what you want to throw away and what you are going to sell. Only then finally can you ge to the fun part of deciding what garage storage unit to buy that is going to work best in your space. Some people will tell you that any type of unit for storage is fine and that is true to a certain extent, but you also want to make sure the unit you decide to go with is something is going to take advantage of all of the space that you have to work with so you are able to get as many items stored as possible.
If you are thinking of buying garage cabinets, if you want them on the garage floor, you want to make sure that the unit has adjustable legs. If you have solid legs or a flat base, then there is a good chance that the cabinet will end up uneven, could tip over or the items inside could slide to one side or the other because more garage floors are uneven or slanted in some way
Garage shelves can be cut down to different sizes so they easy to fit anywhere on the walls of the garage. If you have wall studs showing, you can just place the shelves in between the spaces. You can also get garage shelving units if you want to make sure you can keep more items that are similar together in the same place.
Garage storage systems are another option. These units offer some great flexibility and can grow easily over time for expanded storage and they are easy to install on the garage walls as well.
